Under normal circumstances (temperature and pressure), this gas is inert, but when subjected to high temperatures, it can be activated and influence the result. It is normally used in the PBF (Powder Bed Fusion) 3D printing process, exclusively for stainless steel products. It is also used for the inerting of metal powders during storage.
