HFO blends A2L

HFOs are a compromise between very low greenhouse effect and, for some molecules, limited flammability.

In order to categorize this characteristic, a new ASHRAE classification has been introduced which takes into account the difference in the flame spread speed of flammable substances compared to moderately flammable ones (<0.1 m/s)

The EN 378: 2017 standard recognizes the A2L class and takes into account the moderate flammability allowing greater quantities of charge for the same application.
