Applications of dry ice

What is dry ice and how is it made?

Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide. It is produced when liquefied CO2 expands under atmospheric pressure. Due to physical properties, the state of aggregation changes during this process. The gas turns into snow, which is then compressed in a pelletiser, for example, and formed into millimetre-sized pellets.

The raw material (raw gas) used by Nippon Gases comes from various industrial and biological production and fermentation processes in which CO2 is produced as a by-product.
